EGSA is a local, independent, not-for-profit, frontline service that aims to connect adults with learning. EGSA offers services to adults across NI and works in partnership with a wide range of organisations and learning providers in all sectors to achieve own goal and benefit adult learners. It has a strategic aim to “raise awareness of media literacy to enable adults to become discerning consumers of the increasing range of information available through digital media”. EGSA played a pivotal role in helping adults become more media literate and digitally included by their involvement in the Internet Made Easy CD, which was delivered to every home in NI. They run a Media Literacy Blog http://medialiteracyni.wordpress.com/ and have run several seminars. Their involvement in developing media literacy skills now sits with “mylearningni” and how this leading-edge Web 2.0 tool will engage and support adults. They have tested and evaluated this learning tool with a group of older learners.
